Answering All Them Questions? | F.O.C.U.S. Day 2
“He said that asking me questions was like pulling teeth…”
Playing Customer Service is ruining your business! It seems like a good idea to answer your prospects questions when they ask you about your business. You want to calm their fears! I mean… this could be a sale!
It is hurting you more than it is helping you or the prospect. You shouldn’t be prospecting anyway, but I’ll talk more in the video… so I digress….
I had this guy emailing me a whole bunch of questions on Facebook about joining my company. He was asking pretty vague questions and I didn’t really know how to answer them, plus I was in and out of the house. So, I’d answer personal questions, but for Company questions, I would send him to the videos. He must have been asking questions the whole of the day.
Truthfully, I really didn’t know what to say to answer most of his questions. Nor did I want to answer many of them. I thought, if you really want to be in business, then most of your questions are irrelevant to why you should join. But that was just my opinion.
He eventually told me that asking me questions was like pulling teeth and he soon joined another member of the team. The truth is that he probably would have still joined someone else if I had answered all of his questions and if he did join me, then he would have questioned me down everyday and I would have been giving away my lifestyle freedom.
What I am saying here is really not true. It is only my perception. The moral of the story is to be true to myself and true to others.
Do you really want to start your own business to sit and answer questions all day long? Neither does anyone else. If you are customer service, then they will believe they also have to be customer service and you cut yourself off from actually getting your prospects to join, because they will think they have to do what you did to get them for them to succeed.
The company already has a Customer Service Support number for people to call and get all of their questions answered about the company. You do not have to sink to an $8 an hour job just to get someone to join your business.
You MUST expect your prospects to be resourceful. If a prospect can not find information on their own, then they will be more of a liability to the team than an asset. In the Online Marketing Industry we are all Business Owners. We are not employees. It is up to each one of us to learn about the business that we are opting into.
Some people with employee mindsets will not understand being resourceful and finding out information on their own. They mistake using another Business Owner as their source of information as resourcefulness. Being resourceful is actually using what is available (ie. Customer Service Line and Email Support) to learn more about the Business than trying to downgrade a Business Owners job to Customer Service.
Yeah, I’m ranting in this post. This actually happened a while ago, but I think it is an important subject. It is so easy to feel like you want to answer questions, because you really want a sale. It may land you a few sales over time, but at what cost?
Playing customer service for your online business is like the CEO of the company working in the telemarketing room for the company answering phones. It is preposterous and if a prospect gets him on the phone doing rebuttals, they will have no respect for his position.
- Have you ever called a company to find out more about the products and got the CEO?
- Have you ever called a company to find out more about the products and got the Head of the Marketing Department? Anyone in the marketing department?
I don’t think so.
You are a Marketer.
Disclaimer: I am not saying do not answer any questions whatsoever. You can choose not to answer questions at all, if that is what pleases you. But what I am saying is that you don’t want to get caught up in being a customer service agent. Answering questions like, what’s the comp plan? How do I make money with this? How much are the products?
I have a page on my site that pretty much answers all of those questions really quickly. Taking me out of the picture and the process. [My Customer Service Page]
It’s time to make a DECISION. Do you want to be a marketer that is always answering questions? Or do you want to learn how to truly market. Take yourself out of the sales process. Put yourself back in the CEO seat and Keep All the Cash. Then you can join a team of marketers who are doing just that by clicking the image below.
GO TAKE ACTION NOW…

That's such a jerk move though. I understand you want to gather information before making a decision, but it is another thing to unethically waste someone's time. There are other things that you can do on your own without being hand held through everything. It's called being an adult. There is no reason why you should be asking all them senseless questions if you yourself wouldn't want to do the same thing. It's common sense.
@cainbrian I hear you B. It's just common sense. :/
